Dyslipidemia in Post-menopausal Women of Western Nepal: A Community-Based Comparative Study

INTRODUCTION: Dyslipidemia is a modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Menopause-related hormonal alterations are responsible dyslipidemia. Early identification of such factors aids in the prevention and prompt management CVDs. The current study was done to evaluate prevalence dyslipidemia post-menopausal women compare lipid profiles between pre-menopausal women. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This community-based comparative crosssectional conducted among female population Siyari rural community, Rupandehi from January 2022 April 2022. After obtaining verbal written consent, total 322 fasting samples were collected healthy based on questionnaire strategy. Among them 160 162 post-menopausal. Serum lipids Total Cholesterol (TC), Triglycerides (TG), High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) estimated by automated Humalyzer 600. Low (LDL), Very (VLDL), ratios calculated. RESULTS: high (73.5%). TG, TC, VLDL, LDL, TC/HDL, TG/HDL, LDL/HDL significantly increased compared (p < 0.001), whereas serum HDL decreased = 0.032). CONCLUSIONS: Higher postmenopausal could lead CVD risks other related complications long term.
